A starter fertilizer should be used when planting grass seed to assist in root development. Using a starter fertilizer at the time of seeding should increase seeding success and ensure that the seedlings will have the proper nutrients needed to grow and thrive into a healthy lawn. Whether using a starter fertilizer or other specially formulated fertilizers, always follow the manufacturer’s label instructions and recommended spreader settings.
