If you have successfully killed the existing vegetation and wish to overseed, the following procedures are recommended:
  1. Prepare the area to be seeded or seedbed by scalping the existing dead vegetation with a mower as close to the soil surface as possible. As much dead material as possible needs to be removed. Aerating at this time is recommended when possible.
  2. Seed the area using the new improved varieties such as those found in The RebelsĀ® Brand products. A seeding rate of 4 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. is recommended. Remember to seed the areas in two perpendicular directions to ensure uniform coverage of the area regardless of the spreader that is used.
  3. Irrigate lightly and frequently (4 - 6 times daily) until seed germination takes place. DO NOT ALLOW THE AREA TO DRY OUT.
  4. A starter fertilizer should be applied to encourage seedling growth.
